Miranda Huron is a writer, documentary filmmaker and expedition cyclist. She has cycled across Canada (Vancouver to St. John’s), Russia (Vladivostok to Novosibirsk), and is now about to venture onto a four-month race across Africa from Cairo to Cape Town with the Tour d’Afrique Bike Expedition.
Though originally from small-town Ontario, Miranda came out to Vancouver to complete a degree in Linguistic Anthropology. She spent six years working with the First Nation’s Language Program, designing an interactive language-learning website for the Musqueam Indian Band. She has also done curriculum development and initiated a language program in Mission, BC.
While still doing the occasional linguistic project, Miranda has now moved into the world of writing and filmmaking. Published in a variety of magazines, she is working on novels about her cycle expeditions, as well as a work of historical fiction about the Ottawa Valley. She also does translation work.
She has partnered with David Kerr to create a documentary on Japanese-Love Hotels, and will be making a time-lapse imaging piece about her travels through Africa.
